Recently NERSA and the SA Government have started allowing small-scale (<100kWp) Grid-Tied systems to feed excess power back into the National Grid. This iniative has effectively changed the face of PV based renewable energy systems for the home-owner and the larger building-owner alike. These systems are commonly known as Roof-Top PV, Feed-In systems.
Financially we are seeing medium to large scale projects (within the less than 100kW boundary) with capital Pay-Back periods of less than 2 to 3 years and with equipment life-spans of 25+ years.
The Roof-Top PV system is extremely easy to own and operate, offering minimal maintenance and offering impressive low ‘Mean-Time-Between-Failure’ (MTBF) rates. These systems simply do not Fail and last for a very long time.
